Katie Atkin

She's here!!! and has been for a while, but I'm kind of slow at getting things put up. Actually, I'm kind of slow at a lot of things right now.... :)
Katie Atkin arrived Sunday, August 2, 2009 at 1:16 a.m. She was 7 lbs. 4 oz., and 20 inches long. She had a very easy labor and delivery (5 hours since I was induced) and I only had to push for about 45 seconds. Eeeexcellent!!! She liked to cry a lot, but she is a very sweet and easy going baby. She even lets me sleep for good chunks of the night, which makes me VERY happy. Tyler likes her a lot and is a very good big brother. He will say, "Don't cry, Katie. It's okay" whenever she is sad, or really whenever he feels like it.
Our cute little bug
Here's the family at the hospital.
Tyler, Katie, and the splint...
For those of you who don't know, Tyler broke his arm about an hour after he got home from Salt Lake with my mom (about two hours after Daniel, Katie and I got home from the hospital), which explains the green splint on his arm. He now has a green cast that he loves. I'm glad it hasn't phased him, much! :)

Just kidding
Yeah, so my doctor called today and said that it would be more convenient for him to do the induction Saturday night at 6:00. Which is fine with me because it's a day earlier, rather than a day later! So cross your fingers and I'll keep you posted!

The verdict is in
I went to the doctor today and we have decided that, if Katie hasn't arrived by Sunday, we'll be induced that morning. I am a lot more nervous now that I actually have a deadline, or a date (depending on my mood). Oh, and I have shingles. *yay* So I'm young enough to be giving birth, but old enough to have shingles. I don't know where the justice is in that...
In different news, last week Carrie and I took our boys to my Aunt Kathy's house for a water party. Tyler and Eldon loved hanging out with each other, but Tyler didn't exactly dig the water, for reasons unbeknownst to me. He usually loves it, but apparently there were just too many other cousins and, heaven forbid, splashing. Eldon, it wasn't your fault Tyler cried every time you came around his pool! He got over it when he realized that he didn't have to be in the pool the whole time, so life was much better. On the way home, the boys entertained each other in only ways two-year old boys could understand:
Too cute! Thanks for coming down, you two. We had a really fun time!
Daniel, Tyler, and I also did something a little spontaneous on the 24th and drove to Salt Lake for the Pioneer Day Parade. It was just us with Grandma and Grandpa Luker and we had a really great time. It was the least stressed I have ever been with finding a parking spot and a place to sit. We ended up on South Temple and the corner of State Street, sitting in the shade with a perfect view of the beginning of the parade. And we only parked a block away! Easy cheese! Tyler loved watching the "hurrade" and keeps asking for more. His favorite part were the pretty girls (of course!). Oh, and the helicopter that he had to keep waving to. Pretty sweet!
All ready with his fruit snacks and his hand over his heart

Waving to the pretty girls!

Daniel and me

Hangin with the g-parents!

Grandpa had the best lap.

So that's our week in a nutshell. Next time I blog, I'll probably have baby pictures! :0

Update
Our favorite thing to do during the summer
At the Art City Days Carnival. Tyler loved the rides!
I am not the best blogger, but I don't have any excuse not to blog right now, so I am! haha, and I love how that is the intro to pretty much all of my blogs.... One cool thing that happened today was that Daniel got a letter from the dean of the College of Health and Human Performances at BYU (where his major is) and he made the dean's list for last term! Okay, okay, okay, so maybe it doesn't exactly give us money or fame or power or glory, but, well, it gives us a little bit of fame and maybe some glory, but it is pretty darn cool. He worked so hard and he did get a 4.0, which is something I could NEVER do with the schedule he had, so I am glad that he has something to show for it. Like his name on a dean's list! :) Tyler has graduated to a big boy bed now, and I have only had a few incidents where I have had to go in and re-re-re-put him back to bed. He is mostly really good at sleeping instead of playing. The frame itself isn't put up yet because we accidentally got a mismatched piece from the in-laws (who donated the bed to our noble cause), so we have to wait until the right piece comes along before he can be above floor level. He doesn't care right now and, although I'm looking forward to not bending in half to reach him, I don't care that much, either. Here he is enjoying it:
Yeah, he's a ham and I love him!

Tyler's favorite thing to do with the computer...
Carrie, this is for you. I know I'm always telling you how Tyler wants to watch Eldon, but I finally decided to give you the full effect. He just sits there and watches his cool cousin! I mean, what can you do?
note the cookie sitting not only uneaten but un-being-eaten and how Tyler wants to watch the "jooz" again, again!
